Eydology Smart Glass 02: AI In My Prescription
Most AI glasses won't take a prescription. These will. Then I asked them to identify a tree and they told me the species.

THE VERDICT
The prescription option is the whole story. Almost every other pair of AI glasses asks you to choose between seeing properly and having a computer on your face, and these don't. The ChatGPT assistant is a genuine back-and-forth rather than a timer bot, the 8MP Sony sensor takes photos worth keeping, and at 42g you forget they're on. The catches are real but small: audio leaks, video eats battery, the camera aims high, and the mics lose to Colorado wind.
There's a problem with AI smart glasses that nobody selling them wants to lead with: if you already wear glasses, you can't wear theirs. You're asked to choose between seeing properly and having a computer on your face.
That's the reason this Eydology Smart Glass 02 review exists. You can get them in your prescription. Mine are. Everything else here is downstream of that one fact, because a pair of smart glasses you can't actually see through is a gadget, not a pair of glasses.
Prescription is the feature
Unlike some smart glasses, where prescription simply isn't on the menu, Eydology will build these to your script. That moves them out of the novelty category and into the thing-you-wear-every-day category, which is a completely different purchase.

They're a little thicker than my normal frames, and I like that. The TR90 frames weigh 42g, which is light enough that they don't pinch your nose or squeeze your head over a long day. They feel solid too. I wouldn't expect them to break if they hit the floor.
Talking to ChatGPT through your glasses
The assistant is called HeyCyan and it's powered by ChatGPT, which matters more than it sounds. Most voice assistants on wearables do timers and weather. This one holds a conversation.
I asked it who was still in the World Cup and got a real answer with the actual result and date, not a search results page read aloud. It has contextual understanding, so you can follow up the way you would in a normal conversation.
The tree test
This is the one that made me sit up. I stood in front of a tree and asked what it was.
It came back with black walnut, Juglans nigra, and then explained why: pinnately compound leaves, typically fifteen to twenty-three leaflets, the irregular canopy, the developing seed pods near the branch tips. It didn't just name it, it showed its working.
There are phone apps that do this. The difference is you're not getting your phone out. You look at the thing and ask.
The camera: what 8MP actually gets you
There's an 8MP Sony sensor in the arm, shooting 1080p video at 30fps and photos up to 32MP through software upscaling.
I took them hiking at YMCA of the Rockies and shot my kids on the trail. The photos are genuinely good, and the point isn't resolution, it's that nobody stops and poses. You say cheese and it's done, because the camera was already pointed where you were looking.

The feature I didn't test
Real-time translation across 139+ languages is the headline on the box, and I never got the chance to try it properly. So I'm not going to tell you it works.
It's in the spec list above because Eydology claim it, and it's flagged there as their claim. If you're buying primarily for translation, go and find someone who has actually put it in front of a native speaker. That person isn't me.
What I liked
✦ Prescription lenses. If you wear glasses, this is the difference between a gadget and something you actually wear.
✦ The ChatGPT assistant is a real conversation with contextual understanding, not a timer and a weather report.
✦ Object recognition that explains itself. Black walnut, with the reasoning.
✦ 42g TR90 frames. All-day comfortable, and they feel like they'd survive a drop.
✦ The 8MP Sony sensor takes photos worth keeping, and nobody has to pose.
✦ Clear calls from the dual noise-cancelling mics.
What I didn't
✦ Audio leaks, and the bass is light. Set against AirPods or a headset they lose, though they're glasses sitting above your ears, so that's the trade.
✦ Video eats the battery. Noticeably faster than anything else you'll do with them.
✦ The camera sits high. You have to aim lower than instinct tells you or you'll clip the top off your shots.
✦ Wind beats the noise cancelling. The mics are good, but Colorado wind still gets through.
Should you buy the Eydology Smart Glass 02?
Buy them if you wear glasses already
That's the case, and it's a strong one. You stop choosing between prescription and smart, you get a genuinely useful AI assistant on your face, and you get a camera that catches your kids before they notice it's happening. At 42g you'll forget you're wearing a computer.
Think twice if you want them as headphones
The audio leaks and the bass is thin. That's physics, not a flaw, but if music is the main event you want something in your ears. And if you're buying for the translation, wait for someone who's tested it.
