A MagSafe ring that folds out into a stand, so the phone holds itself up on any flat surface. After a month the propping habit is gone. Here is what it costs you in thickness.

THE VERDICT
The ring is the reason to buy it and everything else is competent support. It folds properly flat, it swings out far enough to be useful in both orientations, and the magnet is strong enough that the stand is not the only thing it is good for. You pay for it in thickness and in a back that is slicker than the sides. Worth it if you prop your phone up more than once a day.
This TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air review starts with a habit I did not know I had. Every morning I eat breakfast and watch something, and every morning I was propping my phone against a coffee cup. Sometimes it held. Sometimes it slid down the side of the mug and lay face-up on the table, still playing, aimed at the ceiling.
I have been carrying this case for about a month. The propping habit is gone. That is the entire review in two sentences, but the details are where you decide whether it is worth $65.99 to you.
What the Ostand actually is
The back of the case carries a metal ring sitting in a recess over the MagSafe array. Flat, it is flush enough that the phone still slides into a pocket without catching. Hook a finger under it and it swings out on a hinge, and that ring becomes a foot the phone rests on.
Two things make it more than a gimmick. It rotates a full 360 degrees, so the phone stands in portrait or landscape without you turning the case around. And the hinge holds position rather than flopping to one preset angle.

Does it actually hold?
This is the question that decides it, because a kickstand that collapses when you tap the screen is worse than no kickstand. I pressed down on the top corner of the phone while it was standing, which is the motion that folds cheap stands flat. It holds. The resistance comes from the hinge rather than from friction against the desk, so it does not creep across a smooth surface either.
Where I actually used it: propped in landscape beside the laptop while editing, so I could see messages without picking anything up. On the kitchen table at breakfast, which was the whole point. And held in one hand with two fingers through the ring, which turns out to be the steadiest way I have ever shot handheld video on a phone.
A kickstand that collapses when you tap the screen is worse than no kickstand. This one takes a firm press on the top corner and stays where it is.
The magnet
TORRAS rates the magnet array at 18N of hold force using N52 magnets, and states it is 30 percent stronger than their previous generation and Qi2 ready. The number is not the interesting part; what it buys you is.
It carries the phone on a windshield mount without the wobble you get from a weak array, and it stays put over bumps. It also means the ring is not the only way to stand the thing up, because it will hang off any magnetic surface you put near it. The click when it seats is firm rather than mushy, which sounds like a small thing and is the difference between trusting a car mount and watching it nervously.
Protection, and what the number means
TORRAS rates the case at 16 ft military-grade drop protection with what they call 360° Air Cushion technology: reinforced corners with air pockets designed to deform on impact rather than pass the shock through to the frame.
I have not dropped a phone from sixteen feet to check, and I would treat any manufacturer drop figure as a lab result rather than a promise. What I can tell you is the physical evidence: the corners are visibly thicker than the sides, the lip around the camera plateau stands 1.2mm proud, and the screen lip matches it. Face-down on a table, nothing but case touches the surface.
The trade
Two honest marks against it.
The first is thickness. 3.35mm with the ring folded is not slim, and the ring recess is a raised disc you feel under your fingers every time you hold it. If your priority is the thinnest possible case, this is not that case and no amount of engineering makes a built-in stand disappear.
The second is the finish. The back is smooth and the sides are textured, which is a deliberate split: grip where your fingers wrap, slickness where it meets a pocket. It works as designed. But the smooth back means that on a hard, flat, slightly angled surface, the case is happy to slide. The stand solves that, which I suspect is the point, but it is worth knowing before you set it face-up on a car dash.
Who it is for
Buy it if you prop your phone up
If you watch things while you eat, take video calls at a desk, follow recipes in a kitchen, or shoot handheld video, the ring earns its thickness several times a day. That is a real daily-use case and this is the cleanest execution of it I have used.
Skip it if thinness is the priority
If your phone lives in a pocket and comes out only to be held, you are paying 3.35mm and $65.99 for a mechanism you will use twice a month. A slim case and a $12 magnetic ring accessory gets you most of the way for less bulk, at the cost of a worse-looking back.

I tested Glacier Sprint, the off-white one with the orange accents, and Deep Blue. TORRAS also lists Shadow Black, Energy Orange and Forest Green. The translucent matte back means the phone's own colour shows through slightly, which is nicer in person than it sounds.

The verdict
Most cases are a tax you pay to stop a screen cracking. This one adds something you use. The ring is well enough engineered that after a month I stopped noticing it was a feature and started noticing when other phones did not have it, which is the highest compliment I can pay an accessory.
Buy it for the stand. The protection and the magnet are good, but they are not why you would choose this over anything else on the shelf.
